WHO IS THIS DAVID PAUL?
As all artists I am sure that my story behind my inspirations and desires for art will read the same.
I was born with a brush in my hand and a pencil between my toes. Art was always in my life, and from the time in my tender childhood all I remember doing was creating, drawing, sculpting in the sand, and putting on paper every thought and every moment. My loving oldest brother kept my motivations pouring by bringing me wildlife books home from his school library. From these books I would sketch every picture from every page. Sadly, today I only have a small handful of these sketches, but it was the only thing that I knew. At the age of 10, my Entry for the "Keep Christ In Christmas" contest I was awarded National First Place. As part of the award I received a large box of art supplies and free art lessons from a woman who became a very dear Friend “ Lucille Stock “ of Layton Utah. I didn’t learn much but had a great time just doing the art. At age 16, I received the very first early student scholarship in Commercial Arts and attended the Utah Technical College of Salt Lake City. I withdrew from art for several years not being as serious about the goals that I had for so many years. I served my time in the US Army at a young age of 17. With all the life’s challenges, and other reasons I kept kicking the idea of art aside. The year of 1988 was a turning point for me when art became a serious part of my life again. I began with advertising for local small and large companies. I took on several challenges that failed, but was determined to carry on. In 3 years of hard work I completed and sold over 200 paintings nationwide as far as Albania, China, England, Italy, Japan, Korea, Russia, Germany, Bermuda Islands and more. As of today I have completed over 375 paintings. Displaying my art across America and the rest of the world is my goal. I want the world to feel another part of the world that they may never see, Due to the fact that 90% of my paintings are from my own world and what I see. Along with my oil paintings I was also a carpenter craftsman and love to build furniture. I display a unique style by sometimes painting the scenes on wood furniture and cabinet doors. Sad to say In 1999 I began a series of surgeries and after approximately 13 surgeries ( I lost count there was so many ) all on my arms, I am not able to work much with wood anymore. I am also now in the works of writing and illustrating children’s books. To be famous and well known would be great, But my dreams and goals in art is not to be famous but just to be able to continue to draw my cartoons, build my art craft furniture, teach art classes and stroke my paints on canvas for the rest of my life.
I Really Hope you can take the time to look through my art.
