All Work No Glory

22" X 48" Original Oil Painting

The Barrel racer. A talent, art, exercise, and tremendous hard work.

In my OWN opinion, barrel racers should get more appreciation

for the great performance that they do. Barrel racers, perform

under a large amount of stress. Screaming hundreds of pounds of

hoof pounding horses around barrels in dust filled arenas.

The only recognition received is from a few clowns, cowpokes ,

the hot dog vendor and the horse they love with great passion.

I myself dont attend to many rodeos because I have a soft heart

for how animals are treated, and there are some events that

I dont care for. But I think it would be wonderful if someday,

these hard working cowgirls, and cowboys get a little more

respect than what they do in the world of sports.

In this painting I tried very hard to get the details of how

well the animal and its rider perform as a team.

Team work is major, for a good score as any other sport.

The rider must first watch below the knees. If you know

a barrel racer, I'm sure they can show you some good

scars below the knees. From start to finish the racer and the

horse work hoof in hand as a team, both know what they

must do and the love to not let each other down is the

strength of how animal and man can work and love together.

I worked hard to get the stressing details in her eyes as she

is cautious to watch her timing with the horse and her

knee caps. This painting has a lot of detail and I've

made the sky very active to fold in with the horse

and rider to give an even flow of the painting.
